Every college offers basic accommodations for students with disabilities, including extra time on tests and a quiet testing room. Students must apply for those accommodations through the college’s Office of Disability Services several months before school begins.
Remember, colleges only offer accommodations, not modifications of the curriculum.
Some neurodivergent students have the academic skills to complete their coursework, but may need more support in other areas. They may need help making friends, communicating effectively with professors, or managing stress. They may need help organizing their school work and choosing a major. Those students would benefit from a Degree Support Program.
Other students would like to attend college, but cannot access the traditional college curriculum. Those students might benefit from a Inclusive Certificate Program, which focuses of career pathways and independent living.
